KYC Represents RegTech at International Conferences4th May,2018
The KYC team is attending seven international industry conferences during May and June
We have some extremely busy weeks ahead! During May and June, members of our team are attending seven international industry conferences, which will give us the opportunity to showcase our solution to a vast audiences of compliance, fintech and regtech professionals.
The Brexit vote of 2016 has undoubtedly challenged London’s position as the financial services capital of Europe many European, and global, cities are now investing heavily in incentives for foreign startups. During May and June, we will travel to Frankfurt, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Dublin to experience what these competitive cities can offer.
The post-Brexit banking debate has certainly focused attention on the strengths of Ireland’s financial services sector and, particularly, its globally-recognised centre for International Financial Services (IFS), which has an impressive track record in the fintech space. However, Frankfurt remains the financial capital of the Eurozone, home to the European Central Bank, the German Stock Exchange, the German Central Bank, and over 200 domestic and foreign banks – not to mention the universities and business schools turning out high-potential multi-lingual workers. Industry opinion has positioned Dublin versus Frankfurt as the location of choice within Europe. However, Know Your Customer CEO, Claus Christensen says there are many routes to success;
“Regardless of the impact of Brexit, Frankfurt is simply too important a financial services hub for RegTech companies to overlook. That doesn’t mean that Dublin or Frankfurt are the only choices, and we are keen to build presence is all of our key geographies. This programme of events is helping us meet the people we need to.”
The first and second events are in Frankfurt, which is hosting the Landing Pad Accelerator Programme, followed by an event on the theme of innovation in retail banking. From Frankfurt it is on to London for the RegTech Automation and Compliance Forum 2018. RegTech has continued to bring considerable benefits to the financial services industry.

From London it is on to Asia and the Fintech Association of Hong Kong RegTech Committee’s event ‘RegTech Live! KYC AML RegTech 100 edition’, a reference to the speakers having been included in the 2018 Global RegTech Review of the 100 most innovative RegTech companies.
Of this event in Asia, Claus Christensen said;
“Inclusion in the 2018 Global RegTech Review is independent validation that we are in the right place at the right time”.
He went on to say;
“AML compliance change across Asia is being led by a mix of local and international regulations, with a significant portion of compliance costs spent on staff manually processing Know Your Customer documents. Technology used to automate on-boarding processes and the move to a fully digital compliance workplace are still in their infancy. This represents a huge opportunity for our business and we are pleased to be building on our existing presence in the region by attending these industry conferences”.
At the end of May, we will be heading to Paris to take part in the prestigious Le Village Startup Accelerator which is backed by Crédit Agricole. Inclusion in this one-week programme is the result of winning the recent Fintech Startup Challenge (Dublin). From Paris to Amsterdam as Know Your Customer heads to Money 20/20, Europe’s largest fintech conference, with over 5,000 attendees from more than 1,500 companies from 85 countries, representing every sector of the payments, fintech and financial services ecosystem. Finally, KYC will be attending an event in Dublin, with the annual MoneyConf, organised by the team behind WebSummit. MoneyConf brings together the world’s leading bitcoin, cryptocurrency and fintech experts.
